Citywide Committees
The Food Justice Committee is traveling all over the country to talk about making school food more healthy, local and delicious. We were featured as speakers at conferences in Oregon, California and Georgia. We’re also starting a huge garden at Langston Hughes Academy.

The Writers’ Group wrote a book that teaches kids how to change their schools. We teamed up with YA/YA Inc. for illustrations. Buy your own copy of Feet to the Fire: The Rethinkers’ Guide to Changing Your School.

The Architecture Committee submitted a model for the school of our dreams to a national design competition and made it to the final round. We presented our design in Washington, DC and won an award! Learn more about our dream school.
The Photography Committee worked with other youth activist organizations to write a Student Bill of Rights and document life in New Orleans public schools. We had an exhibit at City Hall and two of our photos won awards!
