News Conferences

Every summer, the Rethinkers host a news conference and propose recommendations for change.

At our first ever news conference in 2006, we talked about what schools were like before Hurricane Katrina and shared our dreams for the future.

In 2007, we took on school bathrooms. We designed a 21st century green bathroom that is clean, earth-friendly and environmentally sustainable.

In 2008, we focused on school food and cafeterias. We came up with twelve recommendations to make school food more healthy, local and delicious and to make school cafeterias more welcoming.

In 2009, we looked at dignity in schools. We created twelve recommendations to make schools feel safer and more loving.

Last summer, we came up with visions for the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. We created twelve recommendations for healing our schools and our earth.
